The design sprint
Thanks to digital tools, a team of teachers of Italian, History, Mathematics, Science and English from every part of Italy, broke down barriers and took part in two rounds of four days of workshops. Together with our designers, the teachers shared their personal experiences and suggestions to improve Parallel Education, following a five-steps process.
1: Mapping. Discussing with experts and teachers, we identified the main problems of the platform.
2: Sketch. The teachers themselves designed their proposals to reimagine Parallel Education, carrying out both individual and collaborative, convergent and divergent actions and activities.
3: Decide. Together we chose the best options to develop, coming collectively to a shared design.
4: Prototype. Our team of designers and UX has created the prototypes of two different versions, one with lighter modifications and one with more significant changes, starting from the selected ideas.
5: Test. We carried out 10 test sessions with "external" teachers, who had not participated in co-design, in order to gather insights and data to improve Parallel Education even before putting it online.
The result is a revolutionary platform with quicker procedures and a more engaging design.
The long compilation fields have been replaced by guided paths with intuitive actions such as multiple choices and configuration tools. Now, teachers can give and receive advice and get inspired through a repository of good practices and suggestions, encouraging exchange within the community.
These solutions have made it easier and more effective to use the platform, broadening its goals: in addition to exchanging knowledge, teachers can now receive support in the evaluation of students and compare the progress of their classeswith that of others.
Also, a new rewarding strategy recognizes teachers' spontaneous contribution on the platform, encouraging them to help other colleagues and empower the community.
The more teachers participate in Parallel Education, the more rewards they earn, referred to as 'bricks'.By collecting them, they can access new opportunities of professional growth, for example training courses. In this way, the exchange of knowledge within the community will be more and more stimulating.
Infine abbiamo aperto i canali Facebook e Instagram ufficiali ed elaborato un piano editoriale di contenuti, che comprende alcuni post di introduzione al mondo di Parallel Education e una serie di video pill di spiegazione delle varie funzionalità.
